cholesterol medicine

I am 60 years old. My cholesterol levels remain somewhat high. My last test 214 total, with Ldl 139
My doctor has advised me to start taking simvastatin 10 mg. My question is if the statin along with diet
and exercise can bring my levels down, is it possible to stop taking this medicine in the future?

Yes go exercise (i prefer weigth training). Remove carbohydrates from your nutrition and increase animal fats from organic meat sources, all sorts of nuts (vary every day) and add about 15ml of fish oil (if from europe id prefere to order liquid fish oil from alimentnutrition, if from USA then trueprotein has very cheap caps but great quality or swansonvitamins to order liquid fish oil)

I dont visit this page ofthen, if you need more info contact me at ***@****

ps. statins are the most selled drugs, pharma is making a lot money with it....actually you dont need them to lower cholesterol and they can be counterproductive (type google, statins and side effects)

The short answer is yes!

Studies show that dietary modifications can reduce LDL cholesterol on the order of 30%, which is similar to many medical interventions with statins.  I think it's very reasonable to proceed with both (based upon your risk profile overall and your discussions with your doctor) and consider making adjustments down the line.
