I've never wanted to use a kettle bell. I've seen some exercises that use momentum with it and the rule of thumb is that a strength training exercise or use of weights is supposed to be a slow, controlled movement. I use hand weights, 3 and 5 pounds. I also use a ball with hand weights. I don't know anyone that has a kettle bell but my sister and I don't think she has ever used it. I'll have to get it from her.
Thanks- yeah I thought it should be slow, confined movements... but everyone seems t be talking abot the great results from kettlebell work.
I know there are some good movements for the kettle ball maybe it will depend on which DVD you get to go with it.
I used to correspond with a gentleman from London who loved his kettleball workout. You do have to be careful, though, to use the slow, controlled, deliberate movements that Tigerlily described. It can be tempting (and inefficient and potentially dangerous) to let momentum carry you when you have essentially a weight with a handle. IF USED CORRECTLY they can be fun.
