Birth control and nausea............NEED HELP!

Hi, my daughter was put on birth control to regulate her periods and for her acne, which was really bad. She was 17 at the time.  She was put on the regular pill that everyone starts off with I believe, ortho something or other.  Worked great on regulating her periods AND her acne.

The nausea started shortly thereafter and the vomiting....................She stayed on them for a few months to see if it would dissipate but it didn't and she can't afford to lose any weight (she's VERY slender)  She was then put on the LOW DOSE version of that pill.................same thing.............nausea and throwing up.  THEN we tried the mini pill...............no nausea BUT, it doesn't really help w/ her acne which is the most important to her.

Is there ANY other oral pill she could try?  She's so upset and doesn't understand why she keeps getting sick from this pill.  Should she try anti nausea pills for a bit to see if her body will get used to the pill again?  I've heard the patch could make it worse but not sure.  Her acne is BAD and while she was on the pill (except for the mini pill) it was a lot better.  We're stumped here and need some advice.  thank you!

the other treatments for acne have all be exhausted so says the dermatologist. She's been on anti biotics,  every cream, lotion, face wash ect. and nothing helped.  EXCEPT for the ortho tri cyclen.  The mini pill does nothing for her acne and that's why she wanted to go back on it.  HOWEVER; I believe we've found a solution until her body can get used to this pill.  I bought her those "sea bands" for nausea.  She put them on both wrists and 10 min. later her nausea is completely GONE!  We both were stunned.  Didn't think it would work.  She's been wearing them ever since and not a hint of nausea.  Hopefully, after a few packs of the pills her body will have gotten used to them and she can ditch the bands but for now, they are a life saver!!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
Nausea and vomiting are side effects that can occur with birth control pills. If your daughter is benefiting from mini pills then she can opt for other treatment options for acne also. Other than that she can opt for Mirena IUD or Implanon.

There are several other options for the treatment of acne, like topical or oral antibiotics, retinoids, or Isotretinoin.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
