Birth control

How long does it take for the pill to start working? Also, I quick started it so I'm not sure if that affects it either. I've also missed a pill and had to double up about 2 or 3 times and it's only my first month but I'm almost done with the sugar pills and then I'll be on the the second month

Hi there.  Well, each contraceptive has something called a package insert that should spell it out for the particular pill you are taking. This 'pi' is in the package when you open it.  Now, you missed a pill when trying to get established on it.  That in and of itself could jeopardize it's efficacy.  And you did that 2 or 3 times.  I would not think that this month is safe for you to think that the pill is going to work.  I'd take it for a full month properly before trusting it and use condoms during that month to be safe if you want to have sex.

And come up with a plan to make sure you take your pill every day properly.  Right before bed?  When you get up?  Something easy so you don't have these times of forgetting and having to double up.  That will render your pill inactive especially when it is a regular thing.  .

good luck
