Could this mean I'm pregnant?

Hi, I'm 28 & have been on birth control since I was 16. I'm relatively good at taking the pill around the same time every day & never normally miss one. Up until recently I have always been on the combined pill Cilest, I never had any problems with this Pill up until the last couple of months where I was having breakthrough bleeding so I went to my doctor & she advised me to switch to a different Pill. I have now been prescribed Dretine (a band of Yasmin) which is also a combined pill. My question is, I finished my old pill pack on Thursday (Cilest) & started my new pill pack (Dretine) the very next day....as the doctor advised to not have a 7 day break in between switching. My question is, am I protected from pregnancy straight away if I did this? or should I have to used another form of contraception for the first 7 days of taking new pill?. I'm just worried because me & my partner had unprotected sex on Sunday which would be the 3rd day of taking my new pill, even though he did pull out (which I know is not always 100% okay)....I'm now on my 5th day of taking the new pill & have had a lot of white/milk colour discharge & typically I have not had any breakthrough bleeding from my last pack of the old pill which was the whole reason I changed in the first place. Could this mean I'm pregnant?

Any help/advice would be great.

Hi there.  I'm really glad, first of all, that you are using birth control!  That's so smart of you!!  I think it is unlikely you are pregnant and a few days after intercourse, there would be absolutely no sign to indicate that you are.  What you describe is more in common with hormonal changes (changing pills).  You have to ovulate to become pregnant and your old pill was preventing that.

So, I would really feel pretty safe that you are not pregnant at this time.  It would have been a good idea to use a condom just in case but even though you didn't the chances of pregnancy are pretty slim to none based on what you've shared with us.  You can always take a pregnancy test in about 2 weeks or so to confirm that.   good luck
