Night Sweats Before Period

Hi there,

I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this and/or has any solutions. For a few years, I have experienced night sweats about a week to a couple of days before my period. They usually stop the first day of my period and then start up again the next month. And when I say sweats, I mean drenching... getting up at night at least twice to change and wanting to change my bedding but being too tired to do so. I have spoken with only gynecologist who blew it off. I have since changed gynecologists, but haven't met with her yet to discuss this. I read on the internet that it may have something to do with my progesterone level or that I may be premenopausal... but I'm only 33 and have been experiencing this for many years already. Hard to believe I'm going through menopause.

Anyway, any insight would help. I've tried everything... different sheets, different pajamas, turning the heat up, turning the heat down, fans... Nothing is helping.

Thanks!

Hey there!
I had a tubal about two years ago but my fallopian tubes were clamped instead of cauterized.  I have started experiencing similar symptoms as described above.  I have terrible night sweats about a week before my period and tons of cramping of my fallopian tubes during ovulation.  It hurts so badly during ovulation but frankly I would take that over the night sweats!  Please continue to share info as it comes in.  I'm kind of concerned about the night sweats but feel some relief knowing others are going through it.

I am so glad to read all the comments in this community. I visited awhile ago and came back today after the last 3-4 nights of sweaty misery. I was wondering if there were some common threads among all of us ladies... I've read that women who are small-boned or have little body fat might experience estrogen deficient symptoms earlier than menopause or perimenopause. It seems that a lot of you on here state that you are fit and active (maybe equals less body fat?). Coincidence?

Its funny how it seems as if the Dr's want us to just grin and bear it in silence.
As if sleep is unimportant.  Anyone who experiences relief please come back and share...

I too, am experiencing these night sweats.  Even the tops of the legs feel soggy.  After reading what you all were posting, I noticed that my night sweats happen about a week prior to my period, too.  I am 40 years old and have been experiencing these for less then a year now, but they are happening every month.  I am not have flashes during the day, but I have noticed that I tend to have a stronger "odor" during this time too.  Any ideas?  Thanks everyone for being so candid! Good luck to all of us!

I've had night sweats for several years on and off but lately it's been every night and several times a night. I exercise on a regular basis; I'm a fitness instructor but it doesn't seem to make a difference for me. I'm 36 yrs old. Just went to my doctor. She says that I'm too young for menopause but ordered blood tests. Waiting for results; hoping for answers.
