Painkillers

OK so every time I'm on on my period I use painkillers but they don't help much. Are there any other ways to deal with the pain instead of painkillers ?

Having a healthy and well balanced diet with lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, cutting out junk, sugary and processed foods may help.

Ensure that you drink plenty of fluids, especially water. 2 litres (4 pints) a day is usually recommended, more if you sweat a lot.

Applying a heat pad or a hot water bottle (wrapped in a towel) can also help with cramping - and having a hot bath.

You may find Evening Primrose helpful.

If the severe cramping continues, make an appointment to see your doctor as you may have a condition called Endometriosis.

1. Healthy diet: make sure you are getting enough fiber and that you cut down or out your dairy intake. Fiber helps cleanse your body of that extra estrogen that can make cramps more painful. Cut out greasy foods.

2. Exercise throughout the month. It will decrease cramps due to blood flow.

3. Heating pad.

4. Try supplements : Vitamin E, thiamine and Omega-3

5. Eat fish, the oils help

6. Reduce your stress levels, deep breathing "me" time

7. Alcohol and caffeine are known to make cramps worse so reduce these items.

8. Looser cloths nothing that is too tight and constricting.
