Period lasting for about 6-7 weeks

I'm 25 and I have always had irregular periods, but now I have had one that has lasted about 6-7 weeks and counting. It's sometimes heavy and then most of the time it's light. Sometimes it's like 'period' blood and other times it fresh - like i've just cut myself. I've been to see the nurse and she did a few blood tests and the results are i have to go back for a prolactin test in 3 months. She also did a pregnancy test - but I can't be pregnant. I'm about 3 stone over weight and the nurse said that wasn't the problem. I am not taking any medication and i'm not on any birth control (my fiance had a vasectomy in 1989). I have recently changed my diet for the better - eating fresh, homemade food instead of processed. I also haven't had any major stress in my life recently. When it first started i was tired a lot - but not after 6 odd weeks, i don't seem to have any side effects. Can someone help please.

i have had my period now for a month and 3 weeks, and when it seems to be going away and i get stressed for any reason i get a heavier flow(but its still light) I've been to the doctor but this was last yr and prescribed me birth control pills, i was suppose to go back within 5 months but never did. i had them test new for anemia but luckily everything came back ok, i was told that maybe it was normal because im little, im 21 yrs old 4"11 and weight 90 lbs. i also had a cyst that caused internal bleeding back when i was 16 due to my irregular period, i was in pain for days couldn't move only from my bed to the restroom. i really want to know what's going on!

I'm 50 and going on a 14 day heavy bleed. I am so sorry that most of you are younger and going through that. Mine = THE CHANGE. Only problem is, I am anemic, and weak and tired of bleeding. No one understands unless they have been through it. IT *****.
Good luck to us all, stay away from drugs and hormones, do as much natural as possible.

Hi KiraKoi. I am 31 and my story sounds so much like yours. I was wondering if you have gone to the doctor or had any changes since you last posted in January of this year?

I started my periods when i was 12 and has been irregular from the first year or so. Recently i went 4 months without a period which has become my normal and then started. The only problem with finally starting is that it has been ongoing for the past 6-8 weeks. A friend gave me some birth control pills to try to stop it so i can go to the doctor but they dont seem to be helping at all. This is all so frustrating!
