Stomach pain, heavy and long menstual cycle

This past week I went to the hospital because I had been on a period for over 40 days. And along with that I was having severe stomach pain.  I recently got off of the depo-provera shot (three months ago) after having recieved it for over three years.  The doctors at the hospital prescribed me Medroxyprogesteron (10mg/day for 10 days).  When I finally got in with my regular doctor they took me off of that and put me on some birth control pills.  I really want to have another child, and that is why I got off of the depo-provera in the first place. If any of you have had similar experiences, please enlighten me.

My brothers fiance had the EXACT same problem, to the "T". She was on the deprovera shot and got off and bled for 6 months straight and we had to end up forcing her to go to the doctors. They put her on the SAME hormone pill for 10 days, but they also put her on the birth control, both at the same time. Well, it was making her really sick, so she called a nurseline and they told her to stop taking the hormone pill. So, she did. Well, she went back to the doctors because, like you, she was looking to get pregnant. They took her off the birth control completely and set her up to come in and get pregnant (they have to inject my brothers sperm into her, his sperm dont swim). But, be careful because while they were checking Tara (my brothers fiance) out so that she could get pregnant, they found that she had a cist on her cervix and that was what had caused her to bleed for so long. Im not saying you have a cist, i just recommend going to your doctor, tell him you want to get pregnant, and he should take you off and check you out, make sure you're alright, and then let you go ahead and try to get pregnant.
AT any rate, its common for females on the deprovera shot who are on it for any length of time to come off of it and bleed for up to 3 months straight (so a nurse told Tara), so its probably nothing to worry over; again, just talk to your doctor!!

Good luck on getting pregnant!!

I had problems with the shot too, but bled for 6 months atraight after getting the shot.  They said it takes awhile for your body to get used to it and the hormones.  I never took it again although they swore that after the second shot I should get better.  Still took me 3 months after the shot to stop bleeding.  After that I went straight to the pill and was fine.  I actually got pregnant on the pill a few months later (a month after my wedding).  It all worked out, but it is frustrating.  Hope you get back on track soon!
