Swollen and painful labia

Three days ago me and my boyfriend of 5 years had sex. I wasn't sore that day but the day after my labia were slightly swollen and sore. This has happened before after particularly rough sex but occurred straight away and went down within a couple of hours. It is now a lot worse and is painful inside the vagina and I keep getting an itching sensation inside too, but there is no rash or external itching. Me and my boyfriend have never been with anyone else. Could it be connected to the sex, which wasn't especially rough, or could it be some sort of infection?
Thank you!

You could have gotten a yeast infection--it happens.  Go to your gyn or a clinic and have it looked at.  They can take a swab and check under the microscope to see if it's yeast (and I can tell you from personal experience that you don't *have* to have the cottage cheese discharge to have a yeast infection).  Don't have sex again until you've figured out what it is and gotten it treated.  Wear loose fitting cotton undies and loose pants or a skirt to let the area stay aerated, and you might want to take some sitz baths to soothe the area.
