There is also some medication that is a natural remedy,I think. The name of it is Venitian Violet. Its dark purple and you swab the inside of the mouth with it. It will stain and stay in the mouth for days so don't spill it on anything it won't come out. We used it on all the babies in my family that got thrush.
update....i took her to the doc today, and she did in fact have a yeast infection but the white stuff covering her tounge is not thrush, the doctor said it was geography maps....WHAT THE HECK? she said her taste buds were over active but didnt seem concerned, has anyone heard of geography maps on babys tounges?(why would they call it that anyways?) weeeeiirdddddddd
I agree with everyone else...consult a doctor about all of this. If she already has a yeast infection, yogurt will not make it go away. Yogurt only works as a preventative measure when taking anti-biotics.
ok...yea the white stuff does not wipe off and its been white all day, she had thrush at 2 weeks and i got treatment that worked very well, can the thrush medication help with the yeast infection as well, she had a yeast infection a few months ago and the doctor perscribed nystatin, she had an awful reaction to it(he outter vaginal area turned extremly red, bled a little, and every time she would sit down or get changed she would scream in pain, it broke my heart) the doc however said that was the only treatment and she HAD to use it, i refused to because im not going to torture my child, sorry for so much info, its just heartbreaking when your childs in pain=(
im going to try the yogurt idea, and im hoping that will work, thanks for the suggestions!
im a new mommy so this is a new one for me but i think u should ask your doctor
yep it can
call and get some nystatin for the oral thrush and use monistat 7 day on the diaper area...
I know babies can get yeast infections from antibiotics. My daughter recently had an ear infection and was put on a pretty strong antibiotic (Augmentin). The doc suggested I try to give her some yogurt to counteract the antibiotics in that form.
Id call your pediatrician tho. The white stuff in her mouth could very well be thrush and the longer you let that go, the worse it'll get.
It wouuld make sense that it can but most medications only get into breast milk a little. If she has white spots on her tongue, try and wipe it away. If it doesn't wipe off or it gets bloody at all (don't worry it doesn't hurt) she probably has thrush and it can be treated with medication for both you and her.
and to add, her tounge is looking a little whiteish to....sorry all i know i should have posted in another room, my apologies
