hi i'm 29 years old and i just found out 2 years ago that i have a endometrioma but the only thing is that i had an old infection of it and a new one grow on top of that one so my doctor did day surgery on me to take the new one that grow out but he couldn't take the old one out so i still have an old infection in my left ovary. But he saved my ovary but i still get pain only when i get my period that's all so i have to take precription for it so that i don't have to suffer with the pain when i have my period only why he didn't remove it is because i'm trying to get pregnant but i'm dealing with the pain. But i'm doing fine now.
I'm 26 and I had my left ovary removed due to having an endometrioma on it the size of a tennis ball. My right ovary also had one as well but, they were able to save it.
I never had a D&C, but the surgery for the endo was outpatient and done via laparoscopy. That's were they make 3 - 4 very small incisions in your abdomen and insert medical instruments that are maybe about as thick as a pencil in you to remove whatever it is that needs to be done. My whole surgery took about 45 minutes and I was back to normal in two weeks. I had to go on Lupron Depot injections for 6 months and I just received my final shot today.
There is a ton of information in the ovarian cancer forum on this site regarding ovarian cysts and that type of surgery. Those women helped me a lot when I was going through my whole ordeal.
