late period, followed by short period next cycle

Last cycle (march-april) my cycle was uncommonly late. I had unprotected sex twice the month of march, had a delayed period (normally my cycle is 26 days) arriving on CD 35. It was heavy enough for a tampon, but not my usual heavy cycle. It stopped on day 3. I tested twice on CD 26 and 31 with a HPT and negative result both times. Two days ago, CD 28, I began my next cycle. It was unusually light again, to the point I could have used only a single tampon or pad for the entire day. Today, CD 3, it has basically stopped. I have no idea what is going on. My cycles have always been painful and HEAVY to the point I must change a tampon every 2 hours or I have badly leaked. TIA

Thank you for your response. It is most likely due to stress and life changes. I have recently moved with my young daughter on our own. I will seek out a new doctor in this area just to confirm. Not pregnancy related as I tested again with another negative result.
