Period Question - Over 2 weeks long?

Hey all. My gf has been having her period for about 2 weeks now. She had her 1st one. Which came at a normal time for her. Then it was gone for a day.. if that. We had sex, and it was a few hours later she was back on it and having it very strongly! Usually she doesnt have really bad cramps, but this one she is having the worse ever she said. She has been taking BC pills for about a year and a half now and every month is usually the same. She usually has her period every 4-5 weeks for 5 days... How come this time she had her normal period, then lost it for a day (after the 6th day or so) And is now having it very badly again?

Should we be concerned, does she need to see a doc? Thanks
