BV isn't an std but just passed the same way.  Basically if you have the bacteria, your partner would pick it up from you and have it on him.  Then reinfect you with that same bacteria.  But it isn't an STD.  :>)

Typically the medication given isn't the same as for a yeast infection.  Yeast is actually a fungal infection which is different than bacteria.  With bacteria, the medication is a pill and does have things to know about when taking it.  Make sure to check on that if you are prescribed medication for BV.  good luck

And by the way, when i had it, i have no odor what so ever, just itchy and dishcharge. I as well have been only with my fiance for the past 5 years and i knew it was not an STD.

Hello hun! Hope u are doing better. Im glad to hear u are going to the doctor. I thought id leave a comment bc ive had the same problem and it turned out to be BV. I had used 3 days of Monistat as well as another 1 day and it was still driving me insane. I finally went to the doctor and they tested me for everything and it turned out to be BV. They gave me a prescription for a 3 day treatment of basically the same stuff as Monistat except stronger, prescrition strength and it knocked it right out of me. My the end of the day on the 1st dose i was already feeling better. Hope u find out what it is and keep me updated. XOXO

Hi there.  Well, a trip to the doctor is good.  Men generally have no symptoms and they often just pick up the bacteria from their partner and pass it back to them.  That's how it happens between a monogamous couple.

Glad the odor is gone.  But see your doctor and they can culture the discharge and see what it is exactly under microscope.  good luck dear

Hi there. Thanks for the advice. I am going to visit the doctor. I ruled out any bacterial infections because i am odor free and with one partner. we have had intercourse and he have not had any symptons of anything, nor is there any odor druing that time.

Hi there.  Well, since you tried over the counter items and they aren't working, I'd give our doctor a call.  They have a tablet that you can take that works really well for yeast infections and clears them quickly.  also, are you sure it is yeast and not bacterial?
