I truly understand how u feel...but no matter the outcome it's good to know that something can be done. I'm certain that the endo will request a fna and or scan also, but think of all questions and write them down to ask the endo so that you can get an idea as to what's going on. I'm having surgery on the 17th to remove the entire thyroid and i am nervous but my faith outweighs that......Most importantly, if you do not feel comfortable with the 2nd opinion or feel as if ur questions were not answered, get a 3rd. Be Blessed.
I do have an apt. today with an endocrinologist...2nd opinion........I did fail to mention that the first doc already feels I have medullary ca of thyroid based only on the calcitonin level....thank you for your note and your blessing.......I am a nervous wreck about this....
My suggestion to you would be to get a 2nd and 3rd opinion and also ask as many questions as you need answered. Although a fna may not detect cancer all the time, it is quite reliable and maybe another endo would recommend that you have a fna before suggesting a throidectomy. Most nodules will grow into large ones and cause problems that only removing of the thyroid would resolve, however other opinions are imperative as well.. Be Blessed.
