injury on lower shaft of penis

About a week and a half ago, I injured some skin on the lower area of my penis, by the pubic hair.

I believe I did it when I was receiving a handjob while my penis was exposed via the zipper on my pants.  The penis rubbed against the teeth of the zipper, and I didn't notice at the time.  On the 16th of February I noticed a minor red area where this happened, and payed it no mind.  But I noticed that this morning it's gotten much worse and looks like a minor scab.  It hurts to perform sexual acts in which the skin is pulled, and this is becoming an inconvenience.

What should I do?  Do I need to use some sort of special ointment or leave it alone for awhile?

It appears to be healing mostly on its own.  I've been exposing it to air, I've washed it thoroughly, but I haven't done anything like using lotion or cream.  Thankfully, it doesn't hurt or anything, it doesn't "get in the way", per se.

I will consult my doctor if it gets worse, but as of right now, I don't think there's any need for major concern.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
This is due to friction rub or chafing. Chafing occurs when the skin becomes irritated by the friction caused by rubbing – either against other skin or against a foreign material. Wash the areas several times with fresh water. Do not use any cosmetic products at the sites. You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. Application of mild corticosteroid cream and oral antiinflammatories like ibuprofen/acetaminophen are also helpful. If the symptoms are severe then it will be best to consult a dermatologist.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
