17 year old son who developes different tics

My son is extremely active in sports.  I have noticed thru out his growing years that he will develop some sort of tic or two.. over time this goes away, but always is followed by some other type of tic.  He now at the age of 17 has developed eye movements with twisting of his neck... what is the best treatment for this?

It sounds like mild O.C.D.(Obsessive–compulsive disorder) I find most everyone has it to some degree. Some cases are more noticable than others. I have to constantly be fiddling with something. My friend has to turn the tap on, then off, then back on agan, then wash. The guy with the twitchy leg shaking everything on the table!!! Nail biting. knuckle cracking

My 15 year old has tics.

He's got an eyebrow thing he's doing now,  and also he's learning to drive and while he's driving he periodically smells his right hand finger tips.  ???

So far we haven't found any kind of treatment - they just come and go.  It's surprising to me that no one seems to make fun of him for it -
