Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
I can understand your concern for the burning micturition and lumbar pain that you are having. The two reassuring points in your case are:
1) You had protected sexual intercourse and it lowers the chances of sexually transmitted diseases. Moreover sexually transmitted diseases presents with symptoms like discharge from the penis, rashes, ulcers, itching of penile tingling etc.
2) On the x-ray kidney stones were detected. So it is more likely to be due to kidney stones and urinary tract infection.
UTI is caused by bacteria that get inside your urinary tract. Most bacteria that enter your urinary tract are expelled when you urinate. If the bacteria stay in your urinary tract, you may get an infection. People with kidney stones are more predisposed to UTI’s because any obstruction or blockage in your urinary tract stops your urine from flowing freely. This may cause pooling of urine and growth of bacteria.
You need to get your complete urine examination and urine culture done. This will not only identify the organism causing UTI but the antibiotics to which the bacteria as susceptible as well. Also get an ultrasound done to confirm the presence of kidney stones.
I would also suggest you to get an evaluation done from a urologist to determine the type of stone. Treatment modes include Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithrotripsy (ESWL), uteroscopic stone removal and percutaneous nephrolithotomy but it depends on the size of the stone.
If the size of the stone is small, it’s usually treated with ESWL in which shock waves are given from outside and stone breaks into small pieces. On the other hand, if the stone is quite big, then the surgical removal of the stone is a better option.
I also suggest you to drink lots of water for it does facilitate at least in preventing the formation of new stones. Drinking lots of water helps to flush away the substances that form stones in the kidneys. Sometimes exercises like skipping and trampolining which might help in flushing out the small stones.
Also limit your coffee, tea, and cola to 1 or 2 cups a day and depending on the type of stone, get a diet chart prescribed. If you have a uric acid stone, you should eat less meat and if they are calcium oxalate you may need to limit foods that are high in oxalate. These foods include rhubarb, beets, spinach, and chocolate.
Hope that this information helps and hope that you will get better soon.
Wishing you good health.
