Thank you for your response!
I just submitted a lengthy response, but I think it was lost when i had trouble sending it. This occurred Sept 2013. I was prescribed 2 courses of antibiotics, but the pain never subsided. I had a barter deal w/this dentist who owed me 5thousand more dollars of work. He injected the chemical into the root, immediate searing pain but he couldn't figure out why. He'd been in a hurry to catch a flight & I believe this is why this happened. He hurried jamming the files so quickly in & out of my root w/brute force. I've had root canals before that were nothing like this. As soon as the chemical entered I sat up in the chair complained of intense burning & pain, tears, hysterical..He just looked at me not knowing what was wrong. After waiting for it to stop, my face just started swelling a lot. He sent his asst to get benadryl thinking I was having an allergic reaction. He ignored the fact that the first symptoms was intense burning pain. Learned later it was hydrochlorite. He never once rinsed my sinuses. Had me take Benadryl & waited to see if it worked. Didn't. Swelling got worse as did pain. He insisted he had to finish the procedure, so he said I had to lay down even though I was in misery & laying down made it worse as my blood was running to my head & chemicals couldn't drain out. He put something burning hot into the root & I felt it go into my sinus cavity. I cried out to stop. He kept putting more metal in as quickly as possible then said I was done. Still never once rinsing. Told me to rinse sinuses when I got home. I needed the ER, but w/out med insurance, I couldn't go. I drove straight to my oral surgeon who was in parking lot leaving. He asked me what happened. He was shocked & told me to go to ER but told him I couldn't. Saw a new dentist a couple weeks ago who told me I should report him to the dental board after he took exrays. He said it was bad & normally doesn't tell a patient to report. I see an endodontist tomorrow. Holding off pulling because it's going to be a problem, don't have money & will lose a front tooth w/out hope of replacing. I take pain med for my back & this is the only thing that's making it semi bearable. I'm in misery. Still painful inner upper lip, all along the side of my right nostril on up to my eye. Can barely stand to touch upper lip above the tooth. I don't know what to do. Now w/these increasing bloody noses in that nostril only, I'm really worried, traumatized & hurting so much. Thank you...
Its definitely possible it could be from the sinus. Are you taking any pain medications or antibiotics? Have you seen any other doctors at all? How long has it been since the root canal?
