Magnesium Citrate

I have been taking 1 magnesium citrate 200mg at bedtime for approximately 1.5 weeks. I do have a history of headaches, but since I started taking it, I am waking up with severe headaches which seem to last 3 to 4 hours. The only other thing I take is a B6 vitamin. I take no prescription medication, so I know it is not an interaction. Everything I read says magnesium is good for headaches. Any thoughts?

First have you been seen by your doctor? and have you had a CT scan?
I had the same problem and an MRI showed it was an non malignant brain tumor. I'm not saying that's what you have but have it checked!!
Have you had food-allergy and sensitivity screening done.
Also screen for hormone and other allergy and sensitivity.
Take desensitization treatments for allergies/sensitivities, if you have them.
Test for hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), After allergy/sensitivity screening and hypoglycemia test,
After screening the following for allergies and
sensitivity, use these supplements (for now)
magnesium citrate, 200 mg twice daily, vitamin B6, 200 mg twice daily
feverfew capsules, three, twice daily, a hypoallergenic multiple vitamin-mineral.
Research shows that the addition of one single vitamin can reduce headache frequency and severity even more.

Researchers reported that by the third month of treatment individuals taking a total of 400 milligrams of vitamin B2 (riboflavin) daily had a 53 percent reduction in their number of headache attacks, a 53 percent reduction in the total number of headache days, and a 46 percent
reduction in the severity of their remaining attacks.
When used in high doses, vitamin B2 is the B vitamin that gives urine an intense yellow-green, almost fluorescent, color. As it’s (obviously) water soluble, I suggest that the daily dose be split in two. Some individuals have found it even more helpful at an even higher amount, 200 milligrams, three times daily. Even at these quantities, vitamin B2 is safe.
Remember, whenever a member of a vitamin complex is used at a higher-than-usual amount, it’s best to back it up with the entire complex. I suggest at least a B-complex 50 twice daily.
Before doing anything get the OK from your doctor.

Hi there,
From what I read mg citrate is more used as a laxative.. It's not the right form of mg. There's mg oxide, carbonate, glycinate, chelate, chloride, sulphate, etc
I know mg chloride is good for relaxation, helps with tension (should help w headaches I would think then)
Maybe try a different form of it and see how you do?
Or maybe you don't need the extra mg, you already get enough would be my other guess.
Hope this helps...
