A related discussion,
Crystalens was started.
The halos are common in low light conditions b/c the pupil is less constricted in these settings. Some individuals have found driving difficult and find some relief by leaving their inside car lights on to keep the pupil more constricted. You can also ask your doctor to prescribe you Pilocarpine to keep your pupils constricted. Hope this helps.
I received a crystal lens implant a month ago and I have very similar problems to those mentioned in this thread. I have double vision to the left in my left eye. I do not know what is causing this and my doctor has asked me to wait a few months for things to "settle-in." I post this so others with the problem will know they are not alone. I also have very bright halos around lights at night time. The halos go away when I look directly at the light, suggesting that pupillary constriction prevents them.

It's about a month after my surgery and I must admit that in low light conditions I still get some very annoying halos and blurry vision. It seems, for me, to depend greatly on the amount of light in the room and the type of colors or brightness of light comming from teh television.
It's annoying. I'm assuming that this condition will be permanent adn that from now on I'll be watching a lot less television.
I get minor halos from teh crystalens while looking at lights outside at night...like the other post, mine -for the most part-disipate when i focus on a particuar light.
Hello again. I'm about two weeks past the surgery and the instances of blury vision at either side of my central focus of vision have lessened considerabley (due to my pupil having returned to normal dialation maybe??), though I was watching television last night and could not find a comfortable position for my vision that did not include the bluriness at both sides.
So, I guess my answer is I don't know if it will ever go away completely but it appears the halos and the blurriness have lessened. In my case, at least, I am extremely grateful that I am able to see and cannot wait to get the other one done. Still having a cataract in one of my eyes, I am constantly reminded of what I was losing.
You are correct in what you say. Mine are the same. So can this be corrected or are we stuck with it.
Thanks
Hello, It's only day 1 after my right eye was done wiht a crystalens but I think I can help.
I'm having the same blurry vision at either side of my field of vision (the left and right) when looking at light sources/reflective surfaces (windows, TV, Computer, etc). My symptoms sound very similar to yours.
I noticed that in the dim light of my room, while looking at a bright diode light on my electric shaver charger, that I could clearly see the outline of a halo shaped like the a band-aide (the same shape of the crystalens implant, if you take into account the flap at eac side ...the left and the right).
What I am realitively certain is happening to the both of us is that we are seeing the ligth comming through the flaps at either side of the implant and that is causing the blurriness at the left and right of our field of vision.
Thanks very much for your reply. As all of you know, vision is a very precious thing to have and to have problems with it causes me to be very nerveous. Agian thanks for your reply.

Hi - can you tell me how many months on average you would say that it takes things to settle down / even out post cataract surgery ? Thanks.
4 months is not really enough time. you shouldnt be "judging" anything yet.
the blurred spot is a floater. it will go away. even if you think it doesnt fit the typical description of a floater, that almost has to be what you're seeing: cellular or fibrous debris. any "spot" that moves when you move your eye a certain way is undoubtedly a floater. it will go away on its own. it may take months (9 months is what i usually tell patients).
the "doubel vision in the periphery" is an interesting complaint. it may have to do with the optics of the implant, or it may be b/c of the "scondary cataracts" and the associated yag. it may go away and it may not.
really you're just going to have to wait and see what happens. none of this is dangerous IMO nor worth the time/expense/trouble of replacing the lenses this soon.
