On wendsday my brother will be having a bone graph on his mouth. He will have a chunk of bone taken from the hip and inserted into his mouth where he has gaps between the gums. He will have to stayover night and will not be allowed to participate in any contact sports and will have to eat soft foods for three weeks. I wish that you keep him in your prayers.

I think you mean a fistula which is a tract for the release of an infection. There are a number of causes for the tracts and the cause will determine the course of treatment. An apico is usually related to a recurrent infection from  root canal.I do not know if this is the case.Apical surgery is usually done by either an endodontist or oral surgeon. I am not very fond of apicos because there lack of success over a period of time.
