I have another question for anyone willing to answer.  I am so new to this and was just told that my 3 day blood work was ok but my fsh was slightly high but should not be to much of a problem I am on clomid 50mg this month.  I did not know what fsh was until today and when I started looking this up I was very up set everything seems so final with this problem.  Has anyone had any luck getting pg even with this slightly high(do not know the number)level?

I'm 40 yr an just remarried my husband has no children, I have four teenagers from a prior marriage. When i went to the dr yesterday and had my labs done my fsh came back 10.2.. Was to high an that my body don't have any eggs. He basically told me there was no chance of me getting a reversal he didn't want to waste my time. We should look into adopting, an good luck...in the future....

It seems that no matter what, with a high FSH you can conceive each month but will most likely miscarry.  My FSH ranges from 11.9-38 each month.  I'm on DHEA/Prometrium/Chlomid and so far with the DHEA my body overall has improved and I feel good, but my FSH is still high.  Once your body decides to age, it's going to no matter what.  I'm currently starting a herbal supplement to see if I can lower my FSH, but from what I understand, you can lower it all you want but that still doesn't improve the quality of your eggs.  Unfortunately clinics will continue to do IUI's etc but the chances of miscarrying are high......I have had 5 miscarriages now.  I will continue to ttc however I am not doing any more IUI's or meds (except for the DHEA) until that level lowers so that I don't have to deal with that heartache anymore.

My FSH was just checked in the last two weeks and I am an 8.5. My OB/GYNO said that I am going through perimenopause and that if I want to get pregnant again I have to do it now. I have extreme fatigue and extreme spaciness on a daily basis. Not sure if those symptoms are associated with the FSH level or not. Any suggestions would be great.

my fsh  age 36 is 17.5  is that mean i can get pregnant?

FSH day 3 bounces around from month to month.  One month mine was 10.2  - high side of normal and then last month it was 7.2 - good.
Ask your RE for an AMH ( MIS) test.  It is a brand new test and a more reliable ovarian reserve marker.

If she is not too worried, it can't be that high.  I still have hope with 14, yours is probably less.  

For me, I'd rather just know.

Well here's the thing, I am really afraid to ask what the number was because that could kill the last bit of hope I have.  She did tell me that she is not to worried about it and go ahead this month and try again (I am on clomid this month) today is cd10 so i gues we will just have to see.

I agree with the PP.. it might mean that the eggs are diminished or the quality is lower. I have a slightly higher FSH and this is what my RE told me.

As I noted, my FSH is 14 and I've gotten pregnant 3x in the last 2 yrs (all m/c though).  Babyalive correctly noted that this is elevated.  

You should ask dr and/or lab for the number, maybe its not so bad.  Also, different docs have different opinions.  My RE isn't too worried about the 14, but when mention to others they think it will be hard for me to get pregnant (then I remind them I DID).

I have FSH of 14 at age 40...I've also had 3 miscarriages in the past 2 years.  However, not sure high FSH was the problem, but it is an indicator of diminished ovarian reserve and possibly the eggs left are all of poor quality.  

At your age, the FSH could indicate preovarian failure and/or you will start menopause earlier.  But if you are having regular periods and have gotten pregnant, that's good.  Even at my age my RE thinks I should try one more time with my own eggs.

I'm sorry you have to worry about this at your age, hopefully your next test will be better.

Oh ! is that true?? I am worried too because my FSH level was 15 on day 3. I am still 25 years old. My RE suggested to rerun the test next cycle to make sure. Could it be possible that I am running out of my ovarian reserve at this early age??? I had 3 miscarriages in past 2 years. Could this be causing those??? any help is greatly appreciated.

You'll really need to know the number to get a good answer.  I would ask your dr.  Anything below 10 is good.  11 - 15 is elevated and means you're entering Diminished Ovarian Reserve. (Eggs are running low).  16 - 20 means it will most likely be very difficult to acheive a pregnancy. Above 20 basically means SOL, your eggs are on empty.  But, there are always exceptions.  I've heard of women with FSH of 30+ getting pregnant.
