we have been having sex both protected and somtimes unprotected.
we had un protected sex while she had the bumps.
she got tested and it cameout to be positive for herpes.
i dont have any symptoms nor do i feel sick in any way but
my question is what are the chances of me getting the std.

The chances are low, but you should still get this bump checked out.

I recently had an unprotected sexual encounter with a partner I didn't know. Um, I didn't quite put it in but there was genital touching involved. Now I have a small red bump on the tip of my penis where we touched. I was wondering if this means I have herpes? What are the chances that I do?

If you test negative, and that's the only way to know for sure if you have it or not, and she has type 2 by a type specific IgG blood test or a type specific culture, then there is a 4% chance per year that you would get it from her if all you do is avoid sex during an outbreak.  If she were to take daily meds like valtrex or acyclovir, it would drop the risk to 2%.

So that would be a 96 or 98% chance, respectively, that you wouldn't get it from her.

I never had a cold soar, the funny thing is i was just recently given a small pox immunization. and while my small pox site was still infected we had sex. So i dont know whether she MIGHT have a small pox infection or Herpes. She got tested and it said she has herpes Type 2 and i never had any of the symptoms. She is older than me and had more sex partners than i. What are the chances of me getting the STD if i wasnt the one that gave it to her..

You mean if you aren't the one that gave it to her?

Your gf should find out from her doctor what type she has (it can be type 1 or 2 on the genitals), and then you need to have a type specific IgG blood test done.

There's a good chance you are the source of her infection.  If you have ever gotten cold sores, you have type 1.  (Only 20-40% of those with type 1 ever get cold sores, so you might have that and not know it, and pass it to her during oral sex.)  Or you could have type 2 and not know it.

I encourage you to read through the herpes forum here for some more info, and also check the herpes handbook at www.westoverheights.com
