anxious over bad error in judgment

Dear Dr   About a year ago I visited a local escort at her apartment- she advertised in the local community paper. She was older (ABOUT 40) provided a condom and we had a quick episode of vaginal I/C only- lasted maybe 2-3 minutes. I was In and out of her place in less than 15 minutes. As far as I could tell the condom didn't break and I assume it was latex. I didn't get any ARS symptoms just a runny nose and sinus infection a few weeks later. I have had intermiittent back pains and dizziness which I attribute to stress- About 5 months later I got a small faint  circular rash on my back which went away with cream and i have the odd pimple popping up on my back as well as some small red faint spots on my lower to mid back which itch a little at times- and some burning and prickling sensations which come and go sometimes on my back and ribs only- the local STD clinic said they had never heard of an STD that could cause a symptom like that including HIV. I know that this is a low risk activity after reading the forums- I will certainly never do this again as it's not worth the stress of worrying about it- but any reassurances you could give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

It could be stress or it could be something requiring the input of a dermatologist.  It is not HIV.  EWH

The nature of your exposure was close to no risk.  Your sex was condom protected and condoms prevent HIV transmission.  In addition, the symptoms you describe are entirely the wrong time for any form of the ARS and are not symptoms described as being suggestive of HIV infection.  In my judgment you have nothing at all to worry about from the exposure you describe.  If you want to feel entirely better about things, it would be my suggestion that you go on and get an HIV test result.  It will be negative and at that time you can be 100% sure that you did not get HIV from the exposure you have described.  I hope this is helpful.  EWH

Thank you,

guess the only thing that worries me is I keep getting pimples popping up on my back and then going away and popping up again- must be the stress I'm feeling about this .....
