Did you tell them that you had vomited up the treatment?
After 7 days, it was safe to have sex, but I wonder if you lost the treatment when you vomited. If you haven't let them know that, you need to.
The reason they say wait a month is because the test could still be positive from dead chlamydia dna and it won't be a really accurate test for at least 3 weeks following treatment. They aren't saying that to punish you.
However, you are having symptoms, and that needs to be addressed.

Oh and cipro won't cure chlamydia. Do you know what other antibiotics you took?
I was diagnosed with Chlamydia and they gave me the antibiotics for that...I don't remember the name of it, but we were told by our nurse that it is standard to treat for Ghonorreha and Chlamydia in one dose.
I did tell them that I vomited...the nurse and every other thing I read said that as long as it wasn't within the hour that I took the meds that I would be fine.
I vomited after an hour and a half-an hour and 45 minutes.
What should my partner and I do to ensure that we've been totally treated?
It's been a week and I still have some symptoms (light discharge) when I was asymptomatic before...the pamphlet that we were given says that the treatment takes its course in two weeks. Is that true?
How do we know for sure that we aren't reinfecting one another?
Use condoms.
And in the meantime, keep an eye on the discharge. If it gets worse, just go back to the clinic. Its also possible you have a yeast infection from the meds, but I'd let a doctor diagnose me with that before taking any meds.
