What could this possibly be?

My husband came home this morning and advised me that he sees blood when he urinate and it hurts at the tip of his penis when he goes to the restroom.  It does not always hurt he says but, he has a bloody discharge that showed up in his underwear.  I have had a STD before and I have no symptoms now of having one, is it possible that this may not be an STD?

This sounds more like a urinary tract infection or prostate infection, and he needs to see his doctor promptly.
