Hi,
The rash could indeed be an irritation or infection. In particular, fungal infection thrives in wet conditions. Try to avoid  scratching and exercising in a wet suit. Keep the area clean and dry also. Over-the-counter anti-fungal medications may also help. If it persists, further evaluation may needs to be done by your doctor. Take care and best regards.

I am a 30-year-old female and am experiencing what seems to be a rash at the top of my butt crack.  It is on both sides, not very large, and rather dark reddish in color.  It is fairly dry and itchy, which is how I first noticed it.  I do not know what this is, or how to treat it.  I am an avid swimsuit-wearing sunbather and often exercise afterwords in my suit.  Perhaps this is caused by heat and sweat? But, it's never happened before.  What should I do, and should I be overly concerned?

Hi,

Miliaria or  sweat rash is a skin disease marked by small and itchy rashes. It  is a common ailment in hot and humid conditions and  occurs when the sweat gland ducts get plugged due to dead skin cells or bacteria. The trapped sweat leads to irritation (prickling), itching and to a rash of very small blisters, usually in a localized area of the skin. This can be prevented by avoiding activities that induce sweating, using air conditioning to cool the environment, wearing light clothing and in general, avoiding hot and humid weather. Frequent showering may also help. If it persists, it would be best to have this evaluated further by your doctor for proper management.

Take care and keep us posted.
