Armpit pain and some pain that radiates to breast

I have pain in the left armpit for about 3 months.  It has gotten progessively worse, so I have a mammo and u/s in a week.  I was wondering if anyone had this pain, and what were the results.  When I post this question on other breast cancer forums, the only people who reply are the ladies who have been dx with bc, so they all answer they have had my pain and have had bc.

Also, I think that I feel a swollen lymph node in my left armpit, but I can feel a similar "lump" in my other armpit, so I am not sure if swollen.  The left armpit does feel as if there is something swollen in there like an egg.

Thank you

Lola2859: I have the same symptoms that you described. A mammogram and ultrasound in early Dec 2009 showed nothing. I am still worried though. What were the results of your tests?

I had a mammogram done before I went to see a doctor with my left armpit pain. The mammogram is clear. I do not feel anything related to my breast. Anyway, it is good that you try to find the cause. Do you ever notice what kind of bras you put on everyday? I noticed that I put on one brand of bras for years. I changed the bras into the sport supporting bras or T-shirts. I also changed my tight shirts and jackets. These small changes helped me a lot. The pain and uncomfortable sensation is going away. Try to put the heat pad on your hurting areas. Or hot bath. Many times, we just neglect a lot of small things. But I think those small things really add up the daily loading to our bodies. We need to take care of ourselves. To fight the disease, to live happily and healthy!

Breast cancer is rarely associated with pain ... there is one type where breast pain is an issue but there are other very obvious symptoms as well. An enlarged lymph node has several causes ... one is an infection somewhere in the body and sometimes it can be as simple as an infected hair follicle. You are wise to have taken action to investigate this problem. I'm sure the mammogram and/or ultrasound will settle the issue.  Regards ..
