I have a regurgitation problem!

Can somebody plz help me! ever since i can remember i've always had a regurgitation problem. as a kid i thought it was normal for ppl to throw up the food they just ate and chew it bk up and swallow it, until my cousin was like...wat are chewing? and im all like...dinner from an hour ago. but anyway.aparently its not normal, and i dont know what it is. i do not think its acid reflux like some might tell me. acid does not come up with the food. and it doesn't matter wat i eat. it comes up. the more i eat, the more that comes up. but even if i eat just a little bit,it comes up. i have noticed tho that it especially happens when i eat salad...i also am anemic. and have had difficulty my whole life losing weight. i've searched all i could think on google.but i haven't found anything that sounds right. is it a digestive disorder? does anyone know anything about thyroid disorders? i heard thats one possibility for trouble losing weight...
but yeah...i do not know. plz help me!

I have the name for you. It is called Rumination Syndrome. You can google it. My daughter was recently diagnosed with it, and your description fits exactly. Hope this helps you, unfortunantly it hasn't helped us any, because there is very lttle known about it, and even less known about how to treat it. Also, my daughter doesn't have all the classic symptoms as you do, which makes it hard to know if it's even the right diagnoses for her. We're seeking a second opinion.

I have exactgly the same sypmtoms. I regurgiate everything I eat or drink. Doesn't matter how much I eat, it just happens. Fat or grease separates instantly in my stomach and it just shoots up. Its pure grease or oil that comes up. A  huge physical relief to spit that out. INstant feel better.

Have had this this my whole life and I'm 54. Been to specialist a few times, had GI, colonoscopy etc. He said he could do a surgery but do I really want that? He suggested I just live with it.
Started taking nexum because I do have heartburn. Its been wonderful for the heartburn but does nothing for the regurgitation. I had avoided the nexum because of course everyone said I have gerd but I knew that I had acid reflux as one problem and regurgitation as another. Now I have that theory proven.

Well, I believe GERD could be partly attributed to either too much, or too little stomach acid.  The main problem is the malfunction of the esophageal sphincter that is supposed to keep your stomach contents where they belong.  At any rate, whether it is GERD or something else, it isn't normal!  Please don't think that it's only acid reflux.  It could very well be something very serious.  Hopefully some others will have some better input for you than I have had.  In the meantime, I think you should go ahead and schedule an appt. with your Dr.

Hello,  While this may not be the answer to your question, I too was having a similar problem through my younger years and up to as recently as my 24th birthday 6 months ago.  Although what I was going through does not sound as severe as yours, it still sounds like Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease, or GERD, or possibly a more serious form of reflux disease since your food is coming all the way back in to your mouth.  Very basically, the reflux is caused because the barrier between your stomach and esophagus is lazy, to put it plainly.  This may be paired with an abnormal amount of stomach acid which takes advantage of the lazy esophageal sphincter, and your last meal works its way up your esophagus and into your mouth.  I was diagnosed with GERD a few months ago and my doctor prescribed a med called Nexium to control it.  While I still have a flare up from time to time, this has greatly reduced the symptoms of the disease.  At any rate, if it is  GERD, you still need treatment from your Dr. and therefore, need to make an appt. to be seen.  I have problems with my weight as well and have been cleared of any thyroid problems.  I don't believe GERD will cause trouble with losing weight, however, obesity can be a trigger for GERD.
