In addition to being more sensible than ELISA, CMIA is also a lot more specific.
So, your ELISA+, followed by CMIA- probably means you´re really anti-HCV negative, but ELISA's "oversensibility" and lack of specificity gave you a +.
You can relax... If you were really + for HCV, your CMIA would have shown so. ;)
CMIA is more specific than ELISA. I have exactly the same story as you.... ELISA +, CMIA - and 3 times PCR -
Of course, consider a better choice of words :)
LIke JP says, you need a PCR which is also called a viral load test. Tell your doc to quite screwing around and give you an accurate diagnosis.

The result for me was:
Result :: 0.05 Cut off Value :: 1.0 (CMIA)
Sorry....I meant to ask if the CMIA test gave you a number result or just said <5? I'm not positive but I think the CMIA is more sensitive than the ELISA. Someone will correct me if I am wrong.
Instead of worrying why don't you have a PCR? At least you will be sure if you have the disease or not. If you are ELISA positive and PCR negative, you can always do a RIBA to confirm if it is a false positive or you fought off the virus yourself.
