I need help making a decision

I am not sure if I should be disappointed or what but i went to teh gyno today and she told me that she wasnt worried about the cysts that I have. She also doesnt want to do a lap for endo either.  She said that she would rather put me on BC to see what happens first.  She gave me the option of oral or lupron.  I have heard the side effects of lupron but i would rather not take a pill everyday.  She said that i might have to take the pill the rest of my life.  Isnt there dangers to that and i dont think that i can do that.  I dont know what to do. I still fill lost and in pain.  Not like i want a lap but i want closure i need to know if i have it or not.  I must move to the usa to get those surgeries, guess they are easier to come by.  If i stuck with the first doctor i would be having surgery in less than a month. But he was a whack.  I just wish i could know for sure.  oh well disappointed as usual back to square 1.. "watch and wait"  I have another ca125 in june plus an US to see if its still elevated and to see if the cysts are still there.  What shoudl expect from the BC i have never been on it.. Will it shrink the cysts?  get rid of them.  If they are endo will they even go away?  rrrrrr, any help would be appreciated.

Glad it's not my new pc acting up.  Whew!! Wasn't there something with that antro student again. Darn I miss everything!!! Yes I make my hubby crazy cause I always say someone's always watching. That's why I never post much as I gave my name away. Duh! Ya think I'd know better. Glad to hear the Batt lite site is a restricted site. Feel much better about that. Have to sign up.

Lupron is for a temporary time period.  You only take that for a period prior to surgery.  It is used to shrink the "alien" to make it easier to remove during surgery.  I don't like this doctor.  She should have explained that to you.  I'd move on.

Say, did you all see that they removed Angela's post just above this one ...the comment she thought she might be banned from this site based on her interactions over there. I went to read the additional comments since yesterday and ...there is nothing. Not happy about this. But, I am not trying to start anything...I am usually not a rebel rouser. But, I am wondering what might have happened.

Catch you all later...and, Angela...You are in my thoughts and prayers...Take care, Mary

I know, isn't it the pits for her?  I have been wracking my fried brains trying to come up with something....welcome to Canada!
I don't like what I have heard about lupron.  I don't really understand what they hope to accomplish with it...without determining what is going on first....but that seems to be the standard "route" they take here... medicate, oh & "Please don't bother me, I am a very busy professional you know!"

my thing to the gyno was, why are you going to put me on lupron or BC if you are not 100% certain that i do have endo.  what exactly is supposed to happen. I told her that I didnt want to do that unless i was sure i had it.  I dont want to waste my time on something that isnt there.  She told me to pretty much to trust her just for a couple of months than we will see about  a lap.  I was bawling in there i get so upset with these doctors.  Than she made a comment like " have you talked about your family doctor about your emotions" She thinks that i need antidepressants. &^(*&   I am so not depressed I am in menopause at 28 that is what the problem is, plus I am in pain.  lol  I am sorry i am just so frusterated

my first ca125 was 38 than 78 two weeks later the first one was done before ovulation and the other was done on day 4 of my period.  I am all over the place.  I dont know what to think. The doctor that did my two ca125 was an onc/gyn and he said that it didnt look like I had cancer but my levels shouldnt be that high.  I dont know. So he sent me to a gyno.  And this is where I am now

I am sorry you are struggling so much...I can imagine how frustrated you must be feeling. Don't know if this will help, but I was on BCPs for 20 years and my gyn said that it actually reduces the risk of ovca. Hope you are feeling better...

I took a single shot of Lupron one month before my hysto to reduce blood loss.  I was warned about many side effects, but did not have a single one!  Maybe I was just lucky, and like I said I only took it for a month, but I had no trouble with it.

Maybe you could try it for a month, see how bad the side effects are and if it helps you.  I don't think you can take it for more than 6 months anyway, but by then it may reduce the endo enough that you wouldn't have endo pain for a while.

Just a thought.

Angela,
I am sorry that you did not get the response that you were looking for.  I know how hard it is to do the "wait and see" thing.  If your cyst is functional, then there is a chance that the BCP's will shrink your cyst.  I was also given the option of taking the Lupron shots, but the side affects scared me to death.  Is there any way you can get another doctor?  You did the right thing by not going to the other doctor when you were not comfortable with him.  Was your ca125 elevated the last time you had it checked?  I wish there was something I could do for you.  Just know that we are always here when you need to vent.  Prayers and good thoughts your way.  Kasie

I live in Canada, just a matter of finding a gyn to do the job i guess.  Why is so hard when i heard that the procedure in doing so isnt hard at all and just routine.  She told me if she goes in she might not see anything and i still might have it, or she might see something and mistake it for something else.  Plus I had intestine isssues when i was ten and she said that she is afraid that she might go through the scar tissue or some garbage like that and cause more harm than good.  I dont understand what if i do have it and the one on my kidney is an endometrioma and it effects my kidney.  i already have bowel and bladder issues whats next.  When i told her that i have nausea and have since Last year she said that had nothing to do with endo. Now if it is in my bowels and i have problems that way than cant it cause nausea?  Also she said that if she goes in she wont be able to see it in my bowels is this true?  what do i need to do next?

What country are you in? If you are in the UK, then finding good medical help in a timely fashion can be very difficult.

My question is this: can you go to another country in the European Community and consult a doctor there?  If so, I'd recommend France. France has the fourth best medical system in the WORLD, and as a citizen of Europe, you probably will have very low co-pays for medical procedures performed there. Let me know if this is any help.

Best,
LitDoc

If you did not have a good feeling about the other doctor, then you did the right thing to follow your gut instincts...
