Actually, I always felt the books (at least the ones I mentioned) are more for the parents. So that they understood what was going on with their child and used measures to work with them that had a chance of success - as opposed to spanking them and putting them in a corner.
I do not think there is much you can do honestly if your kid has ADHD. It is a brain issue that needs addressing with medication if the problem is bad enough. If it is a mild ADHD case, then maybe books will help. I have all of the books....and there was no point. My girl could not even handle the stuff in the books until she was on meds.

I am sorry but not all kids who act out at home or School have ADD OR ADHD.
What ever you do don't put your child on drugs. Try talking to him or find someone he like to talk to. Also try giving Vitamin B6 and Omega 3-6-9 ,this has helped my son.
also have the Doctors check his blood levels to make sure everything is normal.
some times there are other reason why children act out, home life School kids being mean or not liking School or teachers. And other times it can be something other than ADD OR ADHD AND EVEN BIPOLAR.
Have Doctors check everything like the brain can cause children to do things that they have no control over.
I amy see if if my local library has any of these books, thanks.
Yes, there is a ton of things that you can do at home (and things that the school can do to). It would take a lot of space to list all of the things that will make both of your lives better. The best option is to buy two books.
Sandra Rief’s "How to Reach and Teach Children with ADD/ADHD". Its probably one of the best, most practical and up-to-date books out there.
The second is, "The ADD/ ADhD Answer book." , by Susan Ashley.
(I ordered my through Amazon, got free shipping)
Even with medication (if you go that route), you will need to use many of these tactics during weekends or summers or during the night/morning when the meds aren't working.
This will be the best investment you can make (outside, of the time spent reading the books). Good Luck
