I can relate; I was in a very similar situation. The best thing you can do is get out of there! Whoever is bullying you might be intimidating others, and this may be why they don't stand up to whoever it is. I know this happened at my place of internship. The CEO was even under the bully's thumb! When I did stand up to her, I got punished severely. I also got very sick physically and am still suffering the consequences. Emotional and psychological trauma can wreck havoc on your body like you wouldn't believe.
Please, please take care of yourself. Please get out of there if you can at all. I don't want you to suffer to the degree I have, and I hope that you can find a better place to work where you are respected and valued for all that you have to give.
No employee must endure bullying at work. There is a law against it. Immediately see a lawyer and press charges against the company. Follow his or her advice. You could get a financial settlement out of this. Bullies are cowards. In numbers they feel power. They are nothings but little frightened people. At the same time this is a bad working condition for you and you need the help0 of a lawyer pronto. You may need another job, but don't let them get away with driving you to ill health without payment in your behalf. They need to wake up and smell the coffee is HOT.
Yes, give more info. Have you talked to someone in Human Resources??
jenna, you give so little information it's a little hard to think of ways to help.
Is it your boss who is bullying you? Or a coworker?
Before anyone can help you ,you have to help your self, I have always believed you stand up to a bully, folks who dont stand up... the bully takes control of,they can only do it if you allow them to ...can you give us a scenario of how the bullying takes place ?
Is this your first instance of being bullied?
I've been bullied as kid, a lot. From K-12th grade. I'd get headaches, stomachaches. It's nothing new, and it does happen. And I am sorry that you're getting harassed in a work place. It's a shame that people just don't grow up sometimes.
Have you talked to the boss or the boss's boss about what is happening? If not, do. In the U.S. this is something you can take a company to court over. If the higher-ups don't make it stop, or if there is retaliation, you should see an attorney specializing in employment law.
Get the people who say you should leave to write up a description of what they saw happening, and use those descriptions when you see the attorney. That's the best way they can help you.
