No one to turn to

Well I should start off with some basic background information.

I'm 14 years old and I have A.D.H.D., O.C.D, O.D.D, and Bipolar disorder. Recently my mother and step-father have decided to get a divorce. My mother at the time was having an affair with another man. So my mother moved out and rented an apartment with her new boyfriend. For about a week I lived with her and her boyfriend, it wasn't good. He threatened me and also drank and almost overdosed on sleeping medication. He had a seizure on the kicthen floor and all I could do is run to the bathroom and cry. So my mother sent me to live with my father who I have a little hostility for because he has taken me off of my medication 2 times which cause me to be sent to a hospital twice, once for 12 days and the other for 3 months out of state. This is where my question comes in.

So I thought living with my father and step-mother would be terrible. Well I was right, but I had underestimated how bad it is . My father and step-mother constantly tell me I'm worthless and I can't do anything right. Because I'm on medication for my disorders, they call me a pill popper and jacked up. About a few weeks ago, my twin sister was ill and had been sick for about 3 days. She didn't want to go out to register for school and asked if she could go that friday. He violently grabbed her and dragged her through the house. Upon hearing my sister crying and screaming I rushed in and told him to let go of her. He threw her out of the house and grabbed me by my wrist and threw me out as well. He said the following: "I don't want you in my house!" We ran off into the woods by their house and cried and huddled together until he left. From 8:00 a.m. to about 10:00 p.m. we were locked outside with out food or anything. Luckily I had kept a water bottle in my backpack and we filled it up with hose water.

I later called a hotline for troubled teens and they suggested to call child services. So to make sure I was making the right decision I went to see the school councler. What he said was shocking to me. He told me that what my father did was right. So I have thought about calling child services but the only problem is that my father and step-mother can hide anything. They are well respected by friends, co-workers, and family. So no one believes me. I have no one to turn to and I don't belong to a church so I cannot talk to a pastor. I pretty much and on the verge of wanting to run away and just keep running until I cannot see him ever again. I don't know who to go to.

Is there any way I can get help for me and my sister? Or are we stuck taking all of the threats and verbal abuse making us feel like dirt?

Right now I am on the schools computer because I have no internet at my father's house and I am grounded and exiled from talking to my mother, and pretty much seeing the light of day other than being at school. I am grounded because I am un-organized and I need help from a teacher. My father blames me for everything that happens when sometimes I cannot control the situation. I've never been able to advocate for myself so I get walked all over by anyone. I have no support system and I cannot find anyone who will listen.

I went to a teacher today and talked to her about everything that has happened. She agreed with me and said that she would talk with the counclers and disscus the best action plan for us. Thank you very much for your support. I will continue to update on the situation. I've gone through my whole life being walked over and not being able to talk to anyone about it. It's nice to know that there are people who will listen.

You did nothing to deserve this and if you take action, the day will come (I promise) when your life will be better.  Go to the nearest emergency room and report that you have been abused and neglected -- medical staff at hospitals are required by law to report child neglect and abuse to the police and to social services.  Social services will find a safe place for you to live and make sure that you are getting the healthcare and education that you need.  If there is not an emergency room nearby, call your local police deparment, or call your local T.V. station and let them know what's going on.

I am glad you have spoken to your teacher , and she will make a start for you, you will find people are very sympathetic and this is just the begining. Mean while keep out of your father and step moms way ,make sure your sister and your self are busy and let the adults who care take over they will sort it out for you and your sister . Good luck

I would call the hotline #, 1-800-392-3738. Give them a chance to help you. They can not force you to go home, they will have to put you in juvenille or a foster home if you refuse. Don't run away, there are too many freaks just waiting for girls that have no where to turn to. Can you go to a neighbors when you get locked out? You do not have to belong to a church to get help from one. I know my church would help someone in your situation.

As of yesterday I have set up something with a councler and she is going to confront my father and step-mother. Last night I go screamed at because I had 3 papers that wern't filed in my binders. They have also taken away drawing from me. I am not aloud to draw at all and if they find out that I have been then I will be punished once more. I never draw anything that is bad. All I graw is people smileing. Meanwhile, I have about 10 people wanting me to draw, they tell me that I should consider becomeing an artist. It gives me a little bit of happiness to have people encourageing me to do something that I love. I do not know our neighbors and I pretty much live in the middle of no where. The town that I live in is about 15 minutes away by car. My friend is adopted and her parents are certified to be able to be foster parents. I am talking with her and her parents so that if anything happens I can go there. They live up the street which is about 3 miles long. I'm doing my best and in fact I have a meeting with a councler this morning. Well I'll still keep you all updated. Thank you for your support and I'll keep doind my best. My sister is still a little frightened about the fact that I'm telling people. she and I both fear what will happen when our father and step-mother find out that I have been reporting them. Thanks again to all of you who have said kind words and have given me support.

We will continue to support you through this Trauma,it sounds as if you have a handle on it,tell your sister it will be okay, you did the right thing and you will be safe soon.I hope you will carry on with your drawing it doesnt matter if they took some away you can do more and yes you must definatly plan on becoming an Artist if that where your talents  lie. You also have a story to tell that will help other children placed in the same position through no fault of their own.,you could tell your story and have pictures you have drawn. Keep in touch.Margaret

Well they've struck the final cord. Last night I finally stood up for my self as they continued to bash me. I got up and went on a walk to cool down. I just walked around the property. Then about 10 minutes later I was ready to sit down and talk with them. Well, he had locked me out and told me that I should come back when I can be more respectful. My friend and her parents had already told me that if anything happened that I could come over to her house and they would help me. They called their foster care advisor and she said the best thing to do now is to call child services. Well we were about to call them and the sheffis department until my father called. He told me he would call the police and tell them that i was a run away. Then he "asked" why I had walked out. I told him that I wanted to get out to cool my head because I had taken enough of the verbal abuse. He said it was quote, "BS." I told him that I have shown them respect and I have not recieved any back. I also told him about all the incidents that he had caused and he denied them all. So I have made the decision the call Child Protective Services. I have had enough of it and I did what people have told me to do and talk to him. Well talking isn't working and now I have made up my mind. My father is off of work today so tomorrow when we get home I will call them. I had to have my sister ride in the car with me last night because I didn't know what to expect. So far they are avoiding me and treating me like I don't exist. Thank you for all of the support. Now I think its time I took charge of my life and stand up for my self. I'll post what happens hopefully tomorrow.
