Acne & Artificial Sweetners

Acne & Artificial Sweetners

For the last month I have been battling an Acne break out that continously re-appears on my forehead. I am 33 and have never had Acne in the past. With a lot of brainstorming and trying to figure out the cause I realized it is the artificial sweetners that is causing the problem. In January I decided to go on a diet and eliminate as much sugar as possible. As a result, I began to drink beverages with artificial sweetners. I believe the break outs are related to this change. The Acne doesn't seem to respond to over the counter or even prescribe medicines. I am going to stop drinking the beverages with artificial sweetners and give you a report within a month.

Has anyone experienced the same problem?

Hi. Diet has not been proven to play a part in acne but if eliminating a certain substance has helped you that's great. The causes of acne are oil, bacteria and hormones. Acne will respond to prescription medicine but it does so rather slowly so you need to be patient.
Excess oil can be targeted by using a drying lotion applied to the skin such as Duac gel.
Bacteria can be attacked by oral antibiotics such as oxytetracycline or topical antibiotics such as Dalacin.
Hormones can be regulated in females by administration of an anti-androgen contraceptive pill such as Dianette (Diane35 in USA) or Yasmin.
