Hello, I have had acne on my whole back from my teen years up until now ( I am 38 now). I guess it has improved over time because before it was pus-filled, swollenSwollen glands, even painfulPainful menstrual periods. Now it is more like just plain pimples but I have lots of scars from previous breakouts. I am desperate because I have tried almost everything but it still keeps coming back and the scars remain. How do I effectively treat the scars so that they fade away? Is there any chance that acne on my back can stop already? I have considered going on birth controlControl Control rx pills because I heard some can be good for the skin. What is your opinion on this please? Thank you.
for scars id say use Mederma. Netrogena oil free wash has salicyclic acid which helps treat acne. You have to talk to a derm and ask for oral antibiotics for your acne... It helps alot.
have you tried Benzoyl Peroxide yet? i had that same problem i thought nothing would work my dr would try to give me washes with benzoyl peroxide in it but then i believe it was in a bottle that was called benzoyl peroxide worked great acne on back and chest went away within weeks. And after all the bumpyness went away the dr. said scars will go away and they did, two years later it never did come back not even one pimple or any scars on my back, id try it if you havent already
Oral antibiotics such as Lymecycline 408mg once daily or Oxytetracycline 250mg twice daily will help acne. Use of a topical synthetic retinoid may also be indicated.
Female acne patients can take certain contraceptive pills to heal hormonal acne. These are Ortho Tri-cyclen (Cilest in the UK) Diane35 (Dianette in the UK) and Yaz/Yasmin.
If this doesn't help, talk to your doctor about Roaccutane/Accutane (oral Isotretinoin).
Eloise.
