B5 to treat acne

by Pej1, Aug 19, 2009 04:04AM
Is it true that vitmain B5 is effective in the treatment of acne. I have taken accutane twice through my life and found the results to be exceptional, but the sideffects severe. I'm 28 now and would like to avoid using accutane at all costs, but need something to treat my acne. I suffer from cystic acne and seem to be experiencing a flare up again.

What are your thoughts on vitamin B5, is it a myth?

Thanks!

Several vitamins including B5, vitamins A, C and E and zinc may benefit acneic skin.
However, the results are not comparable to those achieved by prescription medications. Accutane is your best hope of a long term remission from acne, however this must be balanced against the fact that it has many potential side effects.
What are results like with oral antibiotics such as Lymecycline or Minocycline?
What about topical retinoids such as Retin-a or Differin?
Eloise.
