itchy cystic acne when around fragrances

by babypresh17, Feb 07, 2009 08:36PM
I am in my 20's and work in a department store where I am constantly around fragrances. Whenever I am at work, my skin breaks out incessently in cystic acne just around my chin and itches where they remain for a while. If I have a few days off in a row, my skin will clear up, but sure enough the day I go back, my skin will react again...obviously its something there...I just dont know what? Fragrance, cleaning products, stress?

Hi. Cystic acne should not be confused with allergic contact dermatitis, which sounds more like what you are describing. Cystic acne cannot heal within days and does not itch, but allergic reactions can.
An anti-histamine tablet such as Piriton will relieve symptoms such as rashes and itchiness. Your doctor can refer you for allergy testing so that the allergen can be identifed and preferably avoided.
Eloise.
