minocycline

by alexxnguyen, Dec 22, 2007 03:43PM
Hi, I took 100mg Minocycline for about 6th days and on the 7th day my started getting severe headache and very drowsy and feel pretty weak. I can't even go to the gym anymore. Anyway, I've stopped using it and the headaches started to go away but in the last two days it's still hurt  when I turn my head back and fourth and I feels like my head is very heavy.

What should I do ? I called the doctor and he told me to take some Tylenol to get rid of the headache and told me to start taking minocyline again until if I feel I have a headache again  and by then I should stop minocycline completely.

I don't want to take it anymore because I know it's the minocyline that giving me the headache. I would rather have acne then die so yea!

So, what do you think my doctor will say when I ask him to put me on Accutane after suffer from the side effect of minocycline ?

Thanks  A bUnch

Side effects often occur at the beginning of treatment then wear off as your body gets used to the medicine. However, there are other oral anti-biotics which may suit you better such as oxytetracycline or erythromycin. Accutane is a retinoid, and not related to anti-biotics so the side effects are different. However, the list of potential rare side effects of accutane is long and includes headaches, nausea, muscle pain and depression. More commonly, the main side effect is dry lips and skin. With any medication, the expected benefit of treatment must outweigh the potential side effects for it to be worth it. Loiloi x
