I am a 18 years old girl and I had acne when I was 12, each year the acne bacomes more and more. Now, I  have a lot acne on my face, and my face is red everyday, I just want to know if my face is Sensitive Skin or not? the reason for me to question this is because my face turns red everyday, and my face skin is like very very dry if I wash my face with the acne cleanser the day before. The cleanser I used has benzoyl peroxide in it, I just wonder if the cleanser I used cause my face red everyday?????

You have combination skin like me. Over the counter remedies are made for strong oily skin and are too harsh for us. A lotion from your doctor may irritate you less like dalacin or differin. Use in combination with an oral treatment like oxytretracycline or Diane35. If this doesn't work your dermatologist can prescribe you accutane (Roaccutane in the UK) love loiloi xx

Hi,

There are several treatment options available for acne - topical application creams, oral medications, laser treatment etc.

It would be best to consult your dermatologist to decide about the best treatment option in your case.

Comedonal (non-inflammatory) acne: local treatment with azelaic acid, salicylic acid, topical retinoids, benzoyl peroxide.

Mild papulo-pustular (inflammatory) acne: benzoyl peroxide or topical retinoids, topical antibiotics (such as erythromycin).

Moderate inflammatory acne: benzoyl peroxide or topical retinoids combined with oral antibiotics (tetracyclines). Isotretinoin is an option.

Severe inflammatory acne, nodular acne, acne resistant to the above treatments: isotretinoin also known as Accutane, can be prescribed by a doctor, or contraceptive pills with cyproterone for females with virilization or drospirenone.
