1234 - Mousey: How are my nurses doing today?

Hey sisters,
How are you doing today?  Hope you are holding on strong and thinking positively about your bright future free from drugs.

I'm on day 34 without pain pills, just know that if this nurse can do it, so can you!

I am on my way to work and will be away from the computer most of the day, I will try and check in later.

Hugs and kisses,
Cait

Savas, Thank you for the nice things you had to say about nurses.  We are all overworked, stressed out, under-paid, and under-appriciated, hence the high rate of nurse addicts!  The God complex in MD's drives me crazy, but there are some great MD's out there.  So, don't write them all off.

Mousey,  What day are you on of w/d?  Things should start getting easier soon.  Are you eating your bananas? (said with a smile)  You're very lucky to have such a supportive husband.  Hang in there, you can do this!  Concentrate on today, worry about work when you get there.

BTW: San Francisco is better then New York any day!!

Kisses,
Cait

I know they're supposed to act all knowing, but I'm forming the opinion they'd do a lot less damage if they'd admit they aren't "medical gods", Hippocus reborn.
Ironically, when I went in for the patch for cig's this last time, the doctor told me to "Come back in a month". I saw the intake nurse who was fairly stumped on why he did that... and came back after 5 minutes to tell me he sent the prescription in.
I think I had one time a nurse *screwed up* and that was more a series of unfortunate circumstances, not really her fault.

Gods, sorry to hear about your mum going that way. It makes you feel like your back in the dark ages, when doctors used leeches and gave lectures on "Bile and venting the spleen of bad humours".

see we are not just pretty faces, we get that **** from doctors all the time, it was actually mistakes made by doctors that was the reason my mum died last year, she was only 49 complaining of severe shortness of breath and severe chest pain, turns out she had pnemonia they didnt listen and didnt do anything to help

New York is still nice during Christmas. I love doing midnight mass at one of the old, beautiful churches on the upper west side. If you get here around then let me know, I can tell you one or two that usually aren't crowded and touristy! :)   Even if you aren't Catholic it's great.

I actually owe still having my leg to a nurse. The doctor was being dismissive to pain I had after the surgery and the nurse waited for him to leave and told me to "Go over his head", that it sounded like it could be infection. She said she'd say something to, but it would help if it was both of us (patient + Nurse trumps doctor?!?!). Turned out she was VERY right!

I've just got to add in that nurses are THE best. I can't stand doctors. But anytime I've been in a hospital, it's been a nurse who saved the day.
Everytime a doctor through his arrogance or carelessness has screwed up, I hit the "call button" and sure enough, a nurse showed up with her/his "Doctor Walloping Stick" to set the matter straight. :)

So be aware, there's many of us who appreciate what you do, even if the doctors don't. I hope that helps get you through whatever your suffering, withdrawals or otherwise.
