General weirdness after excercise????

Okay............I dragged myself out of my sick chair (I called out sick today) and unburied my treadmill (my, it is handy for hanging clothes on and stacking papers on)....I have to be honest.........I didn't pull the paperwork off the treadmill (I really did feel crummy at the time) I simply turned it on and let everything shoot off the back end (seriously, I really don't care about much today).
For 30 minutes I either ran or fast walked on the treadmill and when I got off I felt SO strange. It was like I was on nitrous oxide...you know that weird, foggy feeling and I felt really 'floaty' (if that's a word). But then again...I do live in a country where the ex-president made up the word 'strategery' and actually used it on live TV....so, please, no judgements on my grammar today.

Anyway, are others feeling this general weirdness when they get up and really get moving?? I'm on day 9.5 and I'm hoping the excercise is going to get rid of the creepy crawlies and the jitters and the anxiety.

I know a lot about a lot, but I've generally remained fairly lazy in my learning about how the brain and excercise helps us in recovery


Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

There seems to be alot of "strategerizing" going on regarding your exercise routine.

For a 110 year old woman, especially one who has just gone through opiate W/D, possibly a check of the 'old' blood pressure is in order...ha

Posting here in addition to the counselor sounds like a good start!

Hey Lady, How you doing? Like I always said, I'm so all-or-none that I overdue everything (including my pain medication). I really just want the jitters to go away. I feel all shakey and weird inside and it's differentl than just plain mental anxiety...It's like a physical anxiety (if that makes sense).......I don't ever remember it being like this. I guess it's the joy of yet another relapse......another new symptom of WD's to deal with.

Drop me a line and let me know you are healthy and happy. I know you had a lot of surgery in the past couple of years....yikes.

Thanks for the post. I'll sleep better knowing 'floaty' is actually a word and not proof I've cooked my ability to write or think with all the drugs!
I used to be in a LOT better shape. What can I say, it happens. I guess you're right. I used to run cross country in high school (a billion years ago) and looking back, we practiced 8 miles in the a.m. and 8 miles in the p.m. and I, too, would get that weird floaty feeling after super long runs.....You are definatley right. This is a combo of drug-addicted-WD-brain-being-pushed and a natural 'high'.


This time around I have ACTUALLY set an appointment with an actual counselor. Just doing it on my own isn't gonna get me there this time. I've tried and failed on my own and  now realize that I can't do it alone (that was a HUGE step for me). I thought posting on the forum was all I needed. Turns out I was wrong............

Hey Greebs....I'm guessing it was a partly a natural high. When I was in the Marine Corps Infantry I was in pretty good shape. When when ran our normal run I never felt much of the feeling you're explaining. But when we would run 10 miles or so I would get that "floaty" feeling. (It's gotta be a word. Spell check let it fly!!) It felt weird but felt good. When I exercised while withdrawing I too felt that same feeling but it didn't take as much strenuous exercise. I wasn't in that great of shape when going through withdrawals though.

So, in my opinion, I think it's a little of both. A little of "runner's high" and a little of fogginess from withdrawals. Just don't over do it. If you otherwise felt okay exercising for 30 minutes then I'd stick with that for now. Just be sure you're drinking plenty of water and eating healthy.

Congrats on 9.5 days! You're doing great! Have you thought about what changes you're going to make this time around? I'm sure you've read it on here a million times. "Nothing changes if nothing changes".

Thanks for the 'strategery' on how to deal with this whole situation.
Yep...I'm just using my addict thinking I suppose. It's always all-or-none, black and white.and instant gratification (a little walking will make me feel good so a long run will make me feel great).

Actually, I'm feeling pretty good now. I wasn't out of breath at all during the whole run. Just when I got off my brain was so weird and foggy.

I'll walk next time.....I'm pretty lazy anyway, so why the heck would I want to jog another 1.5 miles today?!? I've already done it once.

Yes...you got skunked!!  It's really better to do a little EVERY day...it's more consistent and your body won't bite you back!  Try walking...it's easier!

so, it wasn't a natural 'high' but rather my body planning a coup for making it do so much when I've been a slug for a while?

I must admit it did make some of the jitters go away a bit.

Well, I think if it's been a while since you've been on the treadmill it would feel strange the first time back on.  And you did do quite a bit so that's a lot of oxygen to the brain all at once.  I'm sure if you "ease" into it the next time your outcome will be better.  Just remember that like everything else in life, it will take time to balance itself out.  Course, maybe I'm just "strategerizing" this outcome here...."  LOL

And thank goodness you live in a country where freedom of speech reigns supreme...

30 minutes was too much for you physically. Try just 10 minutes at a time and you may do a little better!
