Getting together

There have been several attempts at getting the group of us together to meet. I have an idea and will, with the help of a cohort, take care of all the planning if we can get enough people interested.

I am thinking a Carnival Cruise Line cruise in January of 2009. 7 days in length going either the eastern or western Caribbean. The cost as it stands right now would be about $1000 per person plus travel cost getting to the port in Miami or Ft. Lauderdale. The rooms are double occupancy, so if you would be coming alone we can figure out who would want to room with whom.

I am serious about doing this and would like to hear from those of you that would really plan on going. If we can get enough people to sign up I will make it happen.

What are the chances I could get a rare burger?  Probably not so hot, eh?  I've never had a White Castle burger...come to think of it, I don't think I've ever SEEN a White Castle.

I think both sound great on land out to sea. I know a few years ago we leased a diesel pusher ( won't do that nextime though I'll drive in my vehicle to expensive to lease also fuel cost ) and drove thrrough a few states then to Ohio to the Kings Island Park  and they had a great camp site their. We stayed in the rv for the remainder of the week which was four or five days but they had tent sites cabin which next time will either be pop up or cabin and the prices were very reasonable. The prices were a bit more expensive than other camp grounds becasue it is part of the theme park but I am sure their are many more around much more reasonable ie jellystone or the like. I think a cruise or just a big get together in a camp ground or something is about the same regarding materialization we just got to follow through with it. It would be a bit more verstaile for folks if they have to leave arrive a bit late or what have you. I will be on the "planning comittee" if you need help. Do you think we should possibly take a poll on who will be attending first off, what to do as in land or by sea, if by land where, what date etc.?

That has been tried before and it never materializes and besides with the security getting on the ship the serial killers will have to leave their weapons at home.

This would be pretty cool, but I can already see the look on my very "conservative" husband's face when I tell him I am going on a cruise with a bunch of my forum friends.  First thing he would say is, "Susan, this could be a bunch of serial killer."  I will tell him, NAH, just a bunch of junkies.  LOL !

Are we sure we want to get a group of recovering addicts on a boat for a week.  Could get pretty hairy.  Is there somewhere we could get together "on land" that is a mid-point for all of us?

I was trying to go a little higher to cover all the extra cost. After going on several cruises I found out the price they advertise is not what it will cost in the long run, but I think if we say $1000 then if it is cheaper all would be good. someone could use the money for the bar or excursions (sp).

I have been on Royal Caribbean too, there are some things Iike better somethings I don't. It's a toss up, but I thought that if we had a plan then it might happen.

Oh mercy i need to explain this nicely dont i???  Back in the day when we all would get together on the dike road we would all jump in someones car and go out to the gravel roads and do many illegal things, therefore cruising in the car.  We used to take a trip and never leave the farm too!!!!!  Im not trying to be bad or rude or offend anyone so dont anyone take it that way.  Boy does this date me.........30 plus years ago!!!!

i was looking at cruises the other night...so after seeing this post i looked again.  you can find cruises alot cheaper.  carnival has some for 7 days that run around 5-600 dollars.  using a travel agent even gets a little better price...or at least it always has for me.

royal caribbean is alot nicer :) (or is that carribean?  never could spell that word)

My passport took 3 weeks and I didn't expedite it. The longest it should take is 4-6 weeks. I just had to do this obviuosly for the honeymoon.

u can get a passport in two weeks if ya use the expedited service they offer for a few extra dollars more like a few hundred extra I mean. Hey I am game for a cruise. I am curious though how sara said she have never been on a cruise before shipwise? How else can u take a cruise on the ocean?? LOL I dont want to go in a dingy although that does suit my personality a lil dingy. u no??

Ok...I keep tellin ya I am going to win the lottery.....if so my treat! I wish!!! I will talk to my hubby....would love to go....hard for me to leave baby for a whole week.... hhmmmm .. but really want to go on a cruise the both of us. Sounds like an awesome idea!

With all the money i wasted on pills i should be able to handle a trip 6 months from now. I guess if there isnt that many that want to go there are other options too but this would be so fun and relaxing.

I will need to get a passport too.....and I've never been on a cruise either....see what friends are good for?  They get you involved in new fun things!  I would most certainly not be spending anytime in the cabin either...I'm not sure any of us would be catchin' too many z's either..lol
