Thanks for all the thoughts and drive. Even if I fall to taking 8 well I look at it as it was two less than the day before. Like you said we all have different bodys. To me its better to take it slow then to fast. We are all in this together. I can say I would rather do it slow at home then in a clinic at there speed we know our bodies.

We spent 12,000 on my brother in law on rapid detox at the Wiseman Instute. The same day we got home that night I found it again and he did it. After that I let him do it at his speed. One day he came to us and said I am tired of this **** will you help me and we did. I never taked bad to him or threw him out in the streets. Now look I am in the same spot. I hope I can also get out of this web. I pray we all do at our pace. Even 1/2 of a pill less we have progressed.

Someone said it before me, but many good things take a while to bear fruit. Sorry that yesterday was a rock bottom time...I never really looked at your equation before, but it sure sounds realistic to me. Don't jeopardize that progress. In my opinion being enthusiastic is not a negative. But then it turns into one in this situation. Here comes the sun!! Someone even sang that one. Hang tight

'Why do lots of us think we can dump this in a couple weeks?' - I think it's because enthusiasm takes over and we think we can rock the world.  I also think there is a balancing act in the body - in that X duration X body weight X water consumption X exercise X attitude, etc., all have to do with it.  I also think we hit plateau's - meaning, our withdrawl increases to a level - hits a plateau (or rock bottom - like yesterday for me) and then we see the 'sun' once again and think, 'hey - it's over with - I'm free'.  As much as I don't want to take anymore tonight, I see the wisdom posted on this webside that all have shared and will caution myself with the fact that if I withdrawl too soon, I jeopardize my progress.  Thanks for the slap up-side-the-head.  :-)

Thanks for the information. I will probably check it out myself also...but its just another edition of Murphys Laws of Life or something. There is always one more son of a b**** than you counted on!!!

Smells and songs would be called triggers by the pros...they really do know more about this than many of us give them credit for.

Congrats to the brother in law! Its probably evven good for you to have someone like that to bounce things off of. Hope that it turns out okay............stay in touch

My brother in law was a herion addict and he has been clean 4 years. He says sometimes in the first year he would all of the sudden get cold sweats and shakes out of no where. He call them ghost with draws. Also sometimes he would smell something or hear a song and get a strange felling like he was kinda high. So I am glad I can ask him what I expect. I have seen the worst of the worst of his times. So I am taking it slow and if I need more to take in a day than I am ok with it. I just know the way I used to be in and it hurts me bad to see what I have done to myself.

Sounds like you get it. The methadone just takes a long time to do properly. And if you listen to some clinics they will tell you that it takes a lifetime (or until your broke). I still think that a very comon mistake is to try and get off things just too fast. As people keep mentioning, most of us have multiple year histories to accomodate. Why do lots of us think we can dump this in a couple weeks? But then again, its very individual.  We have biologically different bodies and they all function just a shade differently. Where did you get the ghost withdrawal information? That is a new one for me. I just told someone yesterday that the fight is never over. And that was before I heard that one. Seriously now I would really like to know.Best of luck to you. This is doable.

How long have you taken them. I have taken them for 4 years. I am a simi pro athlete and I have seen my proformance fall. I gave it up and am not going back to it till I am done with this problem.
I have also heard of ghost with draws like a few months off of the pills. So thats why I am taking it so slow. I know this is going to be a long process. If you have done them for years there is no way your body is going to let you get away with just stoping in a month.

Understood.  Thanks for the reply.  My taper is much faster at this time and I am handling it well.  I am knocking off 1/2 tabs daily - not weekly.  But I am using this site a lot and talking to my boyfriend every day about it - keeping him in the loop has been great - especially since he has my pills :-)  It seems to me that if you are pacing yourself at 6 every day for 1 week and then 5 every day for the next week, etc., that should work.

I hope and pray for good health and peace!!! Marie

I don't know how much it is about 8 or 10. I would take 1 to 2 during the day. When I get home from work I would take 4 to 6 and then 2 before I went to sleep at about 10 or 11. Yes I know alot of people say I am a weird pill taker. My wife went threw this also with migrains. I started it from a knee serg and it cronic now.  I am going to try 6 one week then 5 the next and so on.

Hey there - WE are in the same boat - and I'M having success (full of hope and encouragement this morning - Day 5 for me).  So, let's see if this plan will work for you:

First off - admit how much your taking - is it 8 or 10 a day? I'm not getting on you - but we need that number to start from.

My success has, so far, been decreasing 1/2 tabs to 1 tab a day. I've read that sudden withdrawal is NOT the way to go - too many failures.  With all that's going on with you - you can't afford a sense of failure - thus, try to put together a plan you can be successful at - we'll be here to help.

You will get good and realistic taper plans if you check out some profiles and stuff. Hit the archives and read. Don't try and quit too fast. That seems to be a common mistake. I would only drop 1 pill at a time for a week or so if I were you.Be prepared for some symptoms. I don't think anyone gets out of this stuff easily.
