getting off methadone

I was on methadone for 10 years(and I am now 29)...big mistake, I just went into a medical detox were they ween  you off over amonth, and it was actually not that bad, however when I got out sharted using pills.  I waited I week and still felt it (maybe still meth withdrawl) and used agian, its been 2 days and although I wasnt too bad, I feel awfull, do you know how long it will take... I need my life back

After ten years you may be looking at a long PAWS period. There's two posts I'm going to pull to the top of the list (amino acids, the other is nutrition and recovery).

The information in them should help speed the process of your healing.

Ask yourself this, though, did you start using pills because you felt you couldn't function with out them...or were you just missing the high? Try to be honest in your assessment, as it will help you devise what areas of your addiction need top priority attention.

Yes I know for me but it may be different for you. Since you are young, it will be easier. I've know a few older folks who were on it for about 15 years and are fine today. I spent about 25 years on and off methadone and one time for 6 years. You need to be patient and know it will end. Using the pills may prolong it but nothing like taking meth again. I can give you more specifics and wish all the best for you.
