Just a question

I am just wondering how many flks here are in the same boat as I on thanksgiving. Who else is sitting alone at home on tday? I am it seems ever since my sister passed this is becoming the norm for me. She was the one who always set this up for the family and now that she is gone it don't seem to happen. My mother is at her sister's house two hours north of here and she is my only family save my kids that are around and she left so it is what it is. My two brother's are abroad so that it the situation and I think it seems to be for the best all the politics of family get togethers is not happening. Yeah!!! My children are doing their thing my baby is going with her mother to her family which I want to stay out of that as well. Two many politics for me no drama thats the ticket. So Happy tday to all hopefully theirs will not have the b ullsh it of family get togethers...

Oh, mikie.....I know exactly how you feel.  I can go to my sister's but I choose not to.  I only get together with my family for Christmas.......it's ok.....Don't let it get you down.  Make the best of it.......do someting for yourself......I just kick in in my jammies, cook a nice ribeye steak and watch the boob tube......no drama.  It's just another day as I see it.

Do what you want.....just something for yourself and don't get caught up in "the day"...I hate turkey and all that stuff......I think going out and volunteering is a Great Idea if U feel like it.......It is a wonderful feeling.  I would be doing it today, but......i already did it yesterday. So today I am staying home alone and making the best of it.  You can too.

I am not with my wife anylonger so it is alone and this is ok. I was invited a couple places but chose to stay home due to many reasons. To be honest it is a bit bitter sweet as in I am a lil depressed due to being alone but it feels a bit like a breath of fresh air to be away from all the politics of family. u no? Mike

Mike, I think holidays were more fun when we were younger, and our children were younger too.

Maybe it's because we don't have a partner in our life right now, or do you?

Mike,
There are alot of places that serve those who cannot afford a Thanksgiving meal, and they really are grateful for any help preparing and or serving meals, that might make you feel better to go help the Salvation Army or some other group in your area for a while tomorrow.

Just a thought............I sincerly hope you find something to do that you will enjoy!

I used to be in the same boat.  I didn't marry until I was 29 and my family was in PA and I was in Utah.  I used to spend Thanksgiving alone as well.  My friends didn't think about inviting me.  But, I finally decided to make the best of it and started to get a small turkey and would make a Thanksgivining dinner for myself and watch movies.  It really helped me to feel better.  

I hope you will have a good day tomorrow.  Do something just for you!!!  You are in my thoughts!!!  Or, maybe go with your mother?
