had to go to urgent care last night

Yesterday I had the worst migraine I think I've ever had in my life.  I've had migraines before but this one was beyond horrible.  My neck was so sore and stiff I could barely move it.  I tried everything I could - tylenol, ibuprofin, exedrin, you name it.  I was out of my Imitrex shots so I only had OTC stuff.  None of it worked.  After several hours I couldn't take it anymore, especially with my heck because that has never happened like that.

I went in and the doctor and she did a strep test.  That puzzled me because I was there for a migraine.  But she said that with the stiff neck, etc. she wanted to check.  Sure enough, I have strep.  I didn't know this, but she told me that if you suffer from migraines and get strep it can lead to a full blown out of control migraine.  Yuck.  So she gave me a shot of toradol and I asked her for some Imitrex shots to take with me.  Never in a million years have I been in that kind of pain and not asked for narcotics.  It was soooo hard but I was really fighting it.  I got home and took a shot of Imitrex and between those two things it took the edge off somewhat.  Cravings are hard enough, but being in pain and not taking something is really hard.  Especially with Percocet AND Vicodin in the house.  Josh is on Percocet because after a WEEK he still hasn't passed that stone (poor guy!) and when I went to the dentist she gave me a script of Vicodin.  The ONLY reason I filled it is because with what Josh is going through I wanted to give them to him in case he needed them.  I'm not trying to contribute to anyone taking drugs just to do it, but he really is in immense pain.  And he only takes them when he needs them, and as directed.

But last night was the worst I've felt while dealing with it drug free.  It wasn't fun!

Wow, I never knew about the strep/migrane/neck thing.  Interesting and good to know.   You are a very brave woman and I admire your determination to go to any lengths to stay drug free.   I hope your headache subsides and that you have a good day today.

Thank you so much.  Yeah, it wasn't easy.  I couldn't even get online to talk to you guys because I wouldn't have been able to even look at the screen.  I can sometimes deal with the pain depending on what it is, but horrible migraines just plain suck.  But the longer I am clean and sober the more strength I think I have.  Every day that goes by is a day I don't want to lose,  If it were something serious like surgery or some of the things others here are dealing with, that would be another issue.  I could see the need for pain meds then.

I am so sorry you had so much pain. Wow, I am impressed that you did not get an rx. You really are an inspiration to me. I really don't deal with pain very well. Keep fighting the fight. You are really a strong lady!!!!  You had a really rough day yesterday and hope that you are feeling better. Sometimes we really get hit with this **** and especially trying to stay of opiates. I hope today is going to be wonderful for you.

Hug to ya,
Tim
