Thanks for the help

As I have been reading through all of these posts, I have realized that I do not have a big of a prolbem as some of you all.  But nevertheless, any amount  of a drug you take for years has an effect on you.  I got through last night, slept through most of it but when I did wake up I began to pray for all of you who are going through this stuff.  Some of you are taking 4 to 5 times the amount  I was taking.  So I can only imagine the extreme w/d symptoms based on my own.  But I think I have gotten through the worst of it.  The next step is to work on my mind playing tricks.  I had a cough all day yesterday.  I known that vicodin is also a cough suppressent,  I just sucked on cough drops all day, a little Robitussin last night and the cough is gone today.  Thanks all of you for venting and writing your true feelings.  It really keeps your mind off of doing the wrong thing.  Don't give in.  It is worth it in the long run.

I wouldn't take any more pain meds until you find out the reason.  These pain meds do affect your liver.  You might want to have your dr. check you pancreas.  It's better to be safe than sorry.  The pain meds might be masking something.   Check it out before you take any more.

I will be praying for you today.  Keep up the good work.  I took a lot of walks yesterday, that seemed to help too.

I am hanging on there.  I am on day 2 - no Vic's.  I am using Ultram for the w/d's.  It does help.  Just have to becareful with it.

I am so glad you are not on speed.  It has got to be one of the worst drugs out there.

This forum has helped me more then I can tell you.  I know I would not have gotten back on the wagon so many times if it were not for this place.  I would have given up and started using again.

Has anyone been afraid of the impact that the drugs may have on our organs such as the liver. I have been feeling very sick and am very scared. I have digestion problems but yesterday stood up and felt a mass, lump under my ribs on the right side. My stomach is distended and I am panicing somewhat. I am going to the doctors tonight. She asked me if I wanted more pain meds last week when I went in as I was not well but I said no. Now I am feeling like because of the constant pain I need more pills but worry that this may be the cause of my poor health? It is a catch 22 like so many of you have said. What to do. Please keep me in your prayers. I always worry as I have to look after my aging parents, my son who needs me and my grand daughter. It is a huge fear - all prayers and thoughts are appreciated. I also hope Viccadict you are doing okay. I have been thinking about you. I hope you find a different Dr. who helps you.

I am doing well.  I am almost back to my old self.  I will be looking for things to do today to keep my mind off of those stupid pills.  I have done this before so I know i can do it again.  In my younger years I was addicted to speed, and by the grace of God I got through that.  I am so glad I found this forum.  How are you doing?

hi ,  I get the ringing in my ears from the vicodin,  the more I took the louder it bacame.  I haven't had anything in 3days now and the ringing is almost completly gone.  I think it is the tylenol in the vicodin that does it.

Hi there,

You have ringing in your ears?  Is that from the w/d or something else?

Thanks for all of your encouragement.  I think I will still stay around on this forum.  It helps me keep my mind off of those blasted pills.  The little blast of energy you get from them, I think , is what keeps you coming back.  But I can do without the ringing in my ears.  Seems like the more I took the louder it got.  I am also a teacher but I am off this year.  I worked at a private school  and it closed it's doors.  So now I have a lot of time on my hands.
Thanks again, and have a great school year!

You are very welcome and thank you for the kind words and prayers.   Remember, addiction is cunning and baffling.  Our bodies will actually create symptoms just to get more drugs.   Congrats on getting clean and I wish you all the best.  It is nice to have people stick around after they get clean to help others who might not have a lot of hope.

Take care
